Watch Your Steps help
Support
Find help with Health access, Apple Watch, widgets, Goal Sprint, and step updates.
Health access
Watch Your Steps needs permission to read step count from Apple Health.
- Open the Health app.
- Tap your profile picture.
- Tap Apps and Services.
- Tap Watch Your Steps.
- Turn Step Count access on.
If steps do not update, open Watch Your Steps and pull down on the Steps screen. Also check that another device has written recent steps to Apple Health.
Apple Watch
Install Watch Your Steps from the Watch app on iPhone. Open the Watch app once after install so it can read Health access and sync your goal.
If the watch value is old:
- Open Watch Your Steps on iPhone.
- Pull down on the Steps screen.
- Open Watch Your Steps on Apple Watch.
Widgets and complications
Widgets and complications update on Apple’s schedule. Open the main app and refresh it if a value looks old. Remove and add the widget or complication again if it does not recover.
Goal Sprint
Manual Goal Sprint starts only when you ask. Start it in the app, on Apple Watch, from a widget or Control Center, or with Siri. Live Activities are optional; Goal Sprint still works when they are off.
Smart Goal Sprint is off by default. If you turn it on, it needs seven usable days before it can start a sprint when your usual pace points to a missed goal and the steps left fit your chosen walk.
Accounts and private circles
Accounts are optional. Sign in or create an account in Settings to create a private circle or join one with an eight-character code. Step tracking, goals, widgets, and Apple Health features keep working while signed out.
If a verification or password reset message does not arrive, check your spam folder, confirm the email address, then wait one minute before asking for another code. You can delete your account from Settings, Account, Delete Account.
Privacy
Read the Watch Your Steps privacy policy.
